A Glimpse at the Gift
Living Abundantly
According to God's Word Series

God's gift of holy spirit to us is multifaceted. Only God could be so rich unto us. We are not convinced of His Word because of the intellectual truths and complexities in the Bible but because God works in our lives. In I Corinthians God has Paul explain to us the greatness of this truth.
I Corinthians 2
:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech
or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and
him crucified.
:3 And I was with you in weakness, and [not in Aramaic] in fear, and in much
trembling.
:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of
man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power
of God.
God establishes His Word with His power. It was not Paul's eloquent style of teaching and great knowledge of the scripture that drew people to God. If that was so who would bring people to know God? Many of us are not scholars like Paul. Many of us are not bold like Paul. But, what we do have is the spirit of God just as Paul did. God has given us this spiritual gift for which I am exceedingly grateful. We can now be ambassadors of Christ; we can demonstrate the power of God and help people. People have faith, believe, when the power of God is manifested.
:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the
wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them
that love him.
:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit
searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which
is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
The wisdom of God is on your lips when you look to God for the words. God reveals His truths to those that diligently seek Him. It is not the wisdom of the world that is ultimately profitable and life giving, but it is the wisdom of God. When I first heard verse 8, "Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory," it sent shivers up and down my spine. God protected the knowledge of the grace administration, the period of time where He could place His holy spirit within us so we could be His children and walk in His grace and power. He protected that completely so you and I could have the greatness of the power of God in us. For had Satan known it he would have never crucified the lord of glory. The holy spirit power that we have been given is the triumphal power that raised Christ from the dead after Satan had killed him!
God knows our hearts completely. He is our heavenly Father and we can come before Him boldly as a child before his earthly father with open palms and faces lifted up. We can come to God in great joy and we can come to Him with tear stained faces and hearts laid bare. He is always there. This gift of holy spirit has given us access and communion with the one true God.
:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit
which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us
of God.
:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with
spiritual.
:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for
they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they
are spiritually discerned.
The relationship we have with God is spiritual. The natural man, one that has not confessed Jesus Christ as lord and believed that God raised him from the dead cannot understand the truths. That is why in Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Come to God and allow him to work in your heart. Look to Him for guidance, trust in Him. the wisdom of the world is temporal, carnal. Spiritual wisdom is eternal and life-giving.
